18. CLINGAGE
This program replaces a compulsory complex formula used to obtain a corrected
calculation to find the CLINGAGE; This formula is suggested by IMO.
The "CLINGAGE" is the cargo volume remained well stiked in the internal
structures of a cargo tank. It is obvious that this is more to be considered
in the vessel cannot effect CRUDE OIL WASHING OPERATIONS. It is well known
that CRUDE OIL WASHING is very important to carry out, because it is possible
to eliminate 98% of cargo sediments in tanker vessels and this is the
way to cut down the quantity of SLOPS in the cases of cargo tanks cleaning
up. The calculated volume , i.e. the CLINGAGE, therefore remains on board
and cargo receivers can have the right to detract it from the quantity
declared in the Bill of Lading or from the quantity of cargo delivered,
together with the R.O.B. (i.e. the cargo remained in the bottom of cargo
tanks).
The CLINGAGE is to be calculated in all cargo tanks when it is impossible
to carry out a CRUDE OIL WASHING. Remember that in the cargo volume delivered
ashore, is also to be considered the volume of O.B.Q. (ON BOARD QUANTITY)
i.e. the cargo volume ascertained in the bottom of cargo tanks prior to
commencing loading operations. Preliminarly this program is supplied with
a calculation to be used only for an example and only the RETURN KEY or
PAG.UP/PAG. DOWN KEYS of your keyboard are to be used; but you can replace
all data with new data to carry out a new calculation. When you switch
off your computer and then switch ON itself, the last calculation effected
will appear and you can do very quickly a new calculation.
